ok, so i have a 2001 ford ranger reg. cab short bed 3.0 5 spd. i get that hideous pollen smell (and leaves, etc stuck to the INSIDE of my vents) when i turn on the vent and/or ac. my question is this: where does the vent system pull air to feed the cabin? i think i need to clean that area, as i cannot find any information regarding a cabin air filter for this truck. any ideas? thanks in advance.
I seen a post somewhere outlining how to clean it but I can't remember where it was. It would be nice if the ranger had the option to install a cabin filter similiar to the escapes for this reason.
Clean the AC ducts. If it's a mildewish smell you refer to, spray Lysol down the cowl vents...correct me if I'm wrong about that, though.
ah, this could be why i can't find one anywhere...
also, it's not really a mildewy smell, it's more like the sweet smell of pollen. i know one thing for sure, it damn near kills me, as my allergies are overly sensitive. so the air going into the cabin is pulled from the area just under the windshield with all the little holes in it? can i remove that panel? i guess i'll just have to mess with it tomorrow...
