i recently bought a 2003 ranger edge with the 6 disc ford cd changer. every disk i put in it says bad disc. anyone know what would cause this and what do i got to do to fix it? radio works fine just wont play discs. thanks
there is a problem with the reader eye you can try to go get a cd laser cleaner from walmart and try it, i have done this in the past and its taking care of it if doenst after a couple of trys will need to repalce it
Are you using homemade CDs? My 99 used to reject all but the silver and green homemade CDs. Also make sure you don't use CDs with paper labels stuck on them. They peel off and gum up the works. Worst comes to worst, you've got nothing to lose, pull it out and take it apart and clean it.
My 2005's CD-6 will read almost anything but the black homemade CDs, and does MP3. Very nice.

You didn't state if these were commercial or mp3 disks you made. If mp3, insure no more than 250 songs per disk. Even if you can put more on, cd will reject anything over 250.
Also, if you are using burned CD's, they may not work because they are too thick. I had a CD player that did't like Memorex CD's because they were half again as thick as Sony CD's. Unfortunatly, most of my collection was on Memorex...
