'81 Courier electrical issues.

I just bought an '81 Courier and I am wondering if anyone here could guide me through a few electrical problems I am having. First, the turn signals do not work. When I move the stalk I hear a click coming from a relay under the dash. I've check all the lights and those work, the hazard lights work, the connctions are all clean and the fuses are good.
The second problem is the temperture and altenator light stay on even though the altenator is giving a good charge. I appreciate any help on this, Thanks.

I am making big assumption here, so check the wiring colors and see if it matches. This is a diagram for a 1978-84 Mazda B1800, B2000, and B2200 trucks.

If it looks the same, look at the top right of the diagram were it says directional switch. See if you have voltage on the green/red when you move the turnsignal switch one way, and voltage on the green/blue when you move the switch the other way. Looking at the directional relay, it looks like the green/red and green/blue are the turnsignal wires, blue is the flasher wire, and green is the stop signal. If you notice, the rear taillights are a combo turn and brake together, like American made trucks. In an American made truck, this combo feature is done in the turnsignal switch. It's hard to tell if Mazda did the combining in the turnsignal switch or the direction relay. If they did it in the direction switch, you will get 12 volts on both the green/red and green/blue wires with the direction switch in the middle position and pushing on the brake pedal.

Thanks. I printed it out and I'll check it against my wiring harness tomorrow. They look really similar.

Today I got out and checked most of the wiring and connections. All are fairly clean. While checking everything out I discovered the when I press the brakes the turn indicators on the dash light up, the fuse for the turn signal/hazards gets very hot and for some reason I blew a fuse labeled Options and the hazards quit working altogether till I replaced it. The turn signal relay under the dash also gets a little warm.

I would check the wiring harness in the column. That is were all of this related wiring goes. It could have rubbed through, or melted together since it's all bundled tightly together in that area.
