Battery drain testing
I have a 2005 Excursion with 6.0L diesel. I'm going to conduct a battery drain test by removing the negative cable and using an amp meter to connect between the cable and battery post in an attemp to isolate a drain. My questions are does it matter which battery I test and do I need to do anything with the other battery?

If they both have seperate grounds running to the engine block, then yes, I would disconnect one ground to disable one battery, and hook the ammeter inline with the remaining battery. Make sure the battery you pick is hooked up to the starter relay were a bunch of little wires run that work the truck. Or just make sure the radio and all that stuff still works with the one battery hooked up. Then you will know you are still testing the whole elec system.
