Also, try the gear calcultor in my signature, it may help you pick the gears you want. Keep in mind, I'm running 36's and went from 3.73's to 4.56's and I'm still kicking myself for not going to 4.88's. They would have been perfect with the V10.
As to cost; for a 4wd truck, including parts and labor, expect anywhere from $900 to $1800 for a re-gear. It REALLY varies by area and what brand parts / level of install kits you use.

Just keeping within the meat of the power band and the inherent lower rpm range of the diesels.
The V10 with that size tire, like mine, needs a few more RPM's and the V8 slightly more.
Like I said, I'm still kicking myself for thinking that 4.88's would have been too deep. The math doesn't lie.
