While taking my truck in for an oil change, I asked them to change the Trans Fluid and filter. When they popped the hood, they told me they couldn't change the transmission fluid without removing my down pipe. Anyone know about this? I usually let someone else chage the fluids, gives me a chance to sit down!
theres a drain plug in the pan and the filler neck extends pretty far into the engine bay
i dont have a 4" but it shouldn't change the location of the plug and filler neck
Yep. the drain plug is right in the middle of the pan, not even close to the downpipe! You fill from the top which is under the hood on the passenger side. What in the world are they talking about???
The tranny dipstick tube is right there at the DP, but whoop-di-doo. It's still there. Extends beyond the DP. WTF? Unless it was removed, and then why would ya do that? Leave skid marks as you drive away.
thats crap i have a 4" down pipe and there is no reason what so ever that they could not change the tranny fluid. i have had it done twice at other places ( once at a dealer and once at a grease monkey) and have done it once myself. it does not figure into the equation at all
only possibility hear is they are one of those places that use that stupid machine that you hook into the trans cooler lines to flush the system, and they can't get to the cooler lines without moving the exhaust pipe. Just giving the benifit of doubt.

that is not it either, the two times i have had it done by someone else it was flushed with one of those machines. they tie into the trans lines under the radiator. like has been said take it somewhere else...those people do not know what they are doing
