Master Cylinder - Frame Kit??

I know you guys ran this into the ground but,

I decided to go with the frame mount using my existing pedals. It seem the only complaint everyone had was access to the MC when mounted on the frame. After talking with the guys at MP Brakes, they priced for me for my 51, the following:

Part# BM1545
FORD TRUCK 7" DUAL DIAPHRAGM POWER BOOSTER/MASTER CYLINDER
and for $30 more, replace the Master Cylinder with the -
Part # MC1001PZ
REMOTE FILL POWER DISC/DRUM MASTER CYLINDER WITH PLASTIC RESERVOIR

For about $340

MY QUESTION?

Is there anything negative with using a Remote fill Reservior????

Thanks

I don't see any downside to a remote fill MC. I think it would be fantastic set up.

Good luck with it

where are you going to mount the RR to make it more accessable and convenient, that's the question?

You could mount the RR on the firewall.

What's wrong with under the floorboards? It's out of the way and with a nice opening in the floor, it's easy to get to from the top. How often do you have to refill the reservoir anyway? Classic Performance has a nice setup that you retain the original petals for about $325. I have one on my '48 F1 and it fit and went in real easy.

jmerson, when you cut an opening in the floor, it weakens the flooor a bit.

It makes it bouncy.

It's also right underneath the seat.

How do I know this?

Experience.....

Sierraben,
Well, let's see...experience, 1954, the year you were born I was racing in Madera at the California Championships, put on by the NHRA. B/F coupe and sedan and was lucky enough to take the class with a rousing 99.5 MPH. Just teasing. You may be right, but I did it to my '48 F1. Time will tell.

jmerson, I just noticed when I did cut the opening in my floor, there was a lot of deflection when you stood on it. I didn't like that.

Maybe the 55 F100 has a bit of a larger floor area than the 48 F1, causing more deflection.

Also, when the RR is mounted on the firewall, you might be more inclined to check the brake fluid level; and it would also be easier to pressure bleed the system.

Don't suppose you have any pics you could post on your gallery of your racing days?

That would be great.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but since I'm looking at doing something similar with my truck I thought I'd ask:

Isn't there already a hole in your floor for access to the MC? There is in my truck, and by all appearances it's an original feature.

Yes, but when you put a booster on it the master cylinder no longer lines up with the original hole. You can put a remote rez under the original hole, but that means you still need a hole in the rug and to remove the cover to check the fluid.

Low buck remote fill option

On my 49, I have fabbed up a bracket using the original forged brake pedal and have a junkyard booster and mc out of a pre ABS S-10. I removed the dual feed plastic resevoir and fabbed up right angle 1/2 inch pipe fittings with right sized ferrules to snap in where the plastic tank went in and am making two SS 1 " pipe resevoirs that will be polished and fitted into the cowl to inner fender corner on the drivers side. Cost to date $10 for the MC and booster (removed a number of years ago from a low mileage totaled S-10). Oh and about $4 in misc fittings. The SS tubing were free cutoffs and I will probably turn two SS pipe caps.
However, I don't count my fab time. That is the fun part!
