My 2001 f150 4x4 with the 4.6l service engine soon light came on. I had it scanned and code p0401 came up I noticed alot of people had replaced the DPFE which took care of the problem.
My question is my DPFE has a part number of 2F1E-9J460-AB and it is the small one. I did a search on ford websites and cant find this part number anywhere. I've read that ford updated the parts. Does anyone have the part number for one that would replace this?
Thanks, Grandpa's1983. I went and picked one up today.
one more question, I dont have a scanner, should I disconnect the battery to clear the code? Or should I wait? I read that if the problem isn't present for 3 drive cycles the light should turn itself off.
I would drive it and see if it doesnt go away on its own, if you unhook the battery the computer has to relearn its strategy. If it doesnt go away go to autozone and have the run a test for you. that will clear it. free!
oh, ok
I ended up buying a reader on ebay should be here within a week I will just wait for that to arrive and erase the code myself.
Thanks for your help.
I just wanted to give a update. I was sick of looking at the darn light and wanted to know if the new DPFE fixed my p0401 code so I decided I was going to take a ride to autozone and have the code erased.
Anyway I started the truck up and the light was off. I drove for 25 miles and it stayed off.So I guess that was the problem,Also it did only take 3 drive cycles for the light to go off. I just wanted to let people know that in case they dont have easy access to a code scanner.
A drive cycle according to the manual is a cold start followed by city/highway mixed driving.
THe insificiant flow code is often due to cloged egr passages to the thortle body, if your code comes back, check the passages, they will be cloged solid on the thottle body side, very comon after 100k mi
just changed out the egr in my 98 expy with 153k miles... the passage inside the throttle body was partially clogged... i did my best to clean it out... i really need to do it better with a dental pic or a pipe cleaner...
