Usually my tach doesn't work, but after what seems to be enough bumps in the road, the tach will kick in - bounce around and level off at the current engine RPM.
I know there's one green/yellow wire coming off the coil for the tach, going to the ICM. Other than that, I haven't pulled the dash out to check for loose ground. Is there anything else to look for when I tackle this over the weekend?
It also seems like I loose a little power going down the road, constant RPM/speed, it kinda feels like I let off the gas for a brief moment and pushed it back to where it was. I'm thinking it's related and probably a loose ground or a lead is shorting out somewhere. No loose wires under the hood that I can tell.
And tonite my right blinker in the dash stopped working, but the signals (both F & R) were working. When I fired the truck back up to go home, the right dash blinker was working again (the tach didn't work at all during this time either) I should also note, the Fasten Seat Belt light doesn't always come on when the key is turned either. I'm thinking it's something going on behind the dash panel.
I hate chasing electrical so any insight is appreciated.
The symptoms do indeed sound like a faulty ground in the area surrounding the dashboard equipment. Unfortunately the information that I have does not delineate the exact location of the grounds for the 1983 models.

I pulled the dash tonite, reseated the connector, everything looks in order. I replaced all the dash bulbs while I was in there.
I'm thinking about the ground on the ICM, I might un screw it from the fender and screw it back in if that's where it gets it's ground, or run another wire for it if that's safe. More investigating tomorrow. I took the top off tonite and it looks like a nice sunny drive to/from work tomorrow.
