Just replaced the motor in my '72. Problem is I didn't take the old one out.. How do I hook up the distributor(points type) and coil?? Seems simple but haven't had any luck.. Does the pig tail from the distributor hook to the positive side or negative side of the coil and also, which wire goes to the positive side of the coil from the wiring harness?? I got one for the temp sensor, one for the oil sensor and one to the coil.. Any way to tell which one is which? Last,is there a ground wire for the coil or something?? Thanks in advance for your input.

OK the wire from the distributor(black) goes to the (NEG) side of the coil.
The longest ons goes down to the oil sending unit ..I think it is brown.
the one for the temp sensor just slides down on the top of the sending unit Like the oil sending unit.
The remaining one is for the (PLUS) side of the coil...I think it is green with a red stripe!!
