1995 F350 value

Hello,

I have an opportunity to purchase a 1995 F350 CC 4x4. PowerStroke Diesel. 4 speed manual trans. I believe it has been used to pull a fifth wheel trailer. The truck is remarkably clean and not abused. Minor wear here and there. Asking price $9900. The problem - and you know there had to be one - 227,000 miles. The owner is currently out of town so I have not test drove or actually pumped him for too much info.

NADA guide says this may be a good value. I'm not too thrilled about the high mileage. I have no experience with any diesel and limited experience with Fords, though I believe it is the best truck on the market. This is also my first exp with a full size truck.

Have to admit I sqeezed into a BRAT when I was much much younger and had a lot less gas money. Not really a truck - I know. But thats for another day and another forum.

Woyuld anyone be willing to share with me their thoughts about the price of the afformentioned F350? Concerns?

Thanks.

in my opion you need to know what engine work has been done lately and the mileage on the clutch, to have new clutch put in is $1,000.00 or more depend's also, what are your intentions with the truck? put around town pull a camper 200 miles for a trip? or go cross country on a camping tour of the states?

still for $9,900.00 not a bad price for a powerstroke truck

just my thoughts,

I hope to find out more this afternoon in regards to the tech aspects, user history, vehicle maintenance etc.

Useage of the vehicle will be pleasure work, that is, round trips to Home Depot etc. Hauling stuff, rock, wood. Most importantly a vehicle for my daughter to drive and safely beat around in. Nothing too critical but if you ask her its mission critical. No cross country travel but a little off-road (light trails). Project truck, fun.

Thanks for the questions.

BTW: I'm also a big mopar muscle car fanatic. Had many over the years. Kept one for nearly 25 years. Moment of weakness it was sold.

yo,
Good luck!
re, vehicle maintenance etc. That would help me much too! Esp. with that mileage. I don't know the KBB/NADA values, but I would expect to have to replace a few worn parts; depending on what has been replaced to date.

Are you skilled enuf to diagnosis the drivetrain and suspension; such as the hubs/transfer case and tranny?

Anyway, I'm not on a diesel so I would take it to my local mechanic for a look.

be well!
