1971 4X4 balljoints
im buying a 1971 f100 the drivers lower ball joint is extemly bad ready to seperate these ball joints are not pressed in they are bolted in i have been told that this is wrong ??? so i need to know is this wrong or is it right ? the people who told me this is wrong dont seem to know what they are taliign about and also how hard is it to replace these ball joints any speacial tools needed ???

The ball joints should be press in and if you need to replace them you need to take apart the hub and take out the axle so you'll need the hub locknut tool and snap ring pliers

Helpmeplease, my 71 f-1004x4 does not have ball joint knuckles at the spindles, it has trunnion bearings. These bearings are smaller but similar to front spindle bearings.I replaced mine about three years ago and can probably find the part numbers again if you need them. These old front ends are poorley designed but with a little imput they can be made to perform well. If you need any more info get me at BinthereB4(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
