460-65f100 owners, what kind of upper radiator hose did you use ??? My has part number of 120688 which means nothing to NAPA,CARQUEST or SCHUCK. Thmosate end is 1 1/2 " , radiator end is 2" any help appreciated. thanks you.....
Now to throw a wrench in it: William's answer is perfect if you are using a pre-80's radiator and pre-80's V belt setup.
The thermostat housing is parallel to the ground.
I am using a 1966 radiator (same hose diameters, though) originally for a 352, but with a 460 that has the serpentine belt setup.
The thermostat housing is not flat, but angles upwards to the right (passenger) front of the truck. Using that hose will kink it too much, restricting coolant flow.
I used an upper radiator hose from an '86 460, and cut 1 to 2 inches off each end, and it fits almost perfectly. After running it a few times, the rubber seated itself to the correct shape as though it was made for it!
Happy ending! BP I think if I had started with a serpentine system I would have kept it but I honestly believe converting a V belt system over to serpentine is to much work for the benefit. My fat 460 is in and running soo sweet!
