I just bought a 77 460 out of a lincoln continental. I want to put some stuff on it before it goes into the truck... so my question is what carb intake cam and maybe a few other parts if you suggest would you put in it. I would like it to be pretty torquie but in the same aspect have about 450- 500 horse if not more
That’s what everyone wants! And the 460 will provide it in spades. That’s an old guy term for extra good stuff! Get a piece of paper and pencil, develop a budget and then double it. The easy stuff; clean, bore and zero deck the block. Replace camshaft bearings, polish and balance the crankshaft and reassemble with Felpro gaskets, eagle rods, Kb Silvolite 137 flat tops, cloyes true roller timing chain and the camshaft of your choice. Roller rockers are nice but spendy. Heavy duty pushrods are a good idea as well. ARP main and head studs are extra insurance. In fact I would recommend using all ARP fasteners especially on the flexplate, camshaft and rods. Research this build before you put a wrench on it. E-bay is a good source for exhaust manifolds, oil pan and pickup and truck motor mounts. Go over to wwwdot460forddotcom. I bought a set of budget ported D3VE heads with stainless valves from Scotty for less money that a set of NAPA refurbished heads would have cost. FRPP head gaskets work well and Edelbrock has a complete package with carburetor, cam and intake for a reasonable amount of money. Good luck!
so just a quick question... money is not a huge issue... this will be done over time so anything is possible but how much are we talking for what you just said
My engine cost about 4000 bucks. I already had the carburetor and I lucked out on some of the parts at the local Pull-A-Part. E-Bay can be a bargan but you gotta be careful. Bundel your order from JEGS they charge high (handling charges)
