Mystery part in oil pan!

I'm ready to install my new oil pan, pump and screen. The part on the left is the hex oil pump shaft. The part on the RIGHT side ( it's sitting on a rolled up scrap of paper) it's what I found, does anyone know what it may be?

If the piture does post above please go to https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=22536 to see which part I found.

It looks like a stone holder off of a cylinder hone.

Has this engine been rebuilt before?
