Help!!! Olds hydrolocked???
Ok it is not a Ford but here goes. My grandmother called me this afternoon because a warning light was on on her car. It is a 1998? Oldsmobile with a 3600 v-6. I checked it and coolant couldnt be seen in the radiator. I got some, started it, and poured it in. After about 1.5 gallons of coolant the car started running rough. Then just as I started to smell burning coolant, the car seized and died. I checked and didnt see water in the oil so I assume it is just in the cylinder(s). Should I do something tonight to lessen damage before I can get it to a mechanic? I was thinking about pulling the plugs and trying to atleast get the water out. What do you think??? Thanks for your help. My grand parents are in their late 80's and retired preachers do not have a whole lot of money. So, I gotta do as much for them as I can. Thanks for your help.

Yup, fun with another of GM's better ideas. Those engines had a problem with the intake gaskets leaking coolant into the cylinders through open valves.
If the engine just drowned out and died kinda slowly, then it probably is ok. If it locked up and jumped around on it's mounts, then expect some damage.
Intake gaskets on these aren't hard, it just takes time.
