Yes. One difference is the glow plug control module(GPCM) in the Calif. vehicles vs. the glow plug relay in the 49 states.

The GPCM is a solid state GP control unit that incorporates GP diagnostics. More exacting control of the GP heating system reduces pollutants by helping the engine run more efficiently
with supplemental heating i guess.

don't quote me, but as I understand it: the glow plugs stay on a bit longer and I think time delay changes to the EBPV opening times.
there are injector differences, injector seal differences, the Look-up table in the computer is biased towards low emissions to the expense of power/fuel economy

I have an early 99 CA truck with the ZDR3 computer. The injectors are the same as the other states. I actually bought one from Florida I think. And now the programming is cool because Jody brainwashed it.

Yeah I actually went and complained to Ford @ detroit about their service (actually the lack there of) at JW ford when my cps went temp sensitive.

I had the 60 K Ford don't care, just fix the stupid thing warranty and they wouldn't service me because of the CA tags in the Galpin license frame.

If I have to go to the stealership I use the one in Carson city.

ford service manual says the injectors are PN 9F593 for Ca and 9E527 for Federal. CA identified by yellow clip on top and a spill control port . I have them yellow clips on my LA apcd purchased '00.

Yes Im positive its from the front part of the oil pan. I work at a Honda dealer in Reno so I put the truck on a lift and do all my own maintance. Thats how I noticed the pan leaking there and a little on the passenger side on the block. I was told its not a gasket but a gasket type glue. And since its has the 100K warrenty still and looks to be a tough job Im gonna pass this one along to them. Im a little afriad to bring my truck to JWF for the work but I guess Im gonna have to if I want it fixed. I bought it there almost a year ago now. Still glad I got the 49 state truck. One way to tell the diffrence I founnd out is since we have a 02 F250 on our lot right now thats from Southern California is the 49 state engine will have a bright Orange engine tag on the passenger side valve cover. The California engine will have a gray tag in the same spot. I also noticed that a truck the same year as mine at the JWF lot a few months after I had bought mine which was a 6 speed and had cab lights was a California engine and it had a CAT on the exhaust mine dosent have that either.
