Angry Transmission Flush Problems

I took my wife's 2000 windstar (3.8L, AX4S Tranny) to have the oil changed and the same guy who has been bugging me on the last 6 oil changes was harping on the fact that I really needed to have my transmission flushed. Well like a dummy I let him do it and 300 miles later transmission is losing fluid. Took the van back to the lube express and had it checked and was told that my wife must have hit a curb stop as the pan was dented and the seal was leaking. He also said that alot of local trans places carry the pan and gasket and could probably fix it cheap and he was really strong in suggesting that I DO NOT take the van to Ford as they will rip me off. Well I took it to Ford Dealership and paid $109 for their Transmission Diag and was told that 1. There was nothing wrong with the pan or gasket and 2. That it is a real good probability that the flush caused grit and particles to be stirred up into the seals and valves causing them to fail prematurely. Bottom line is Ford wants $2500 for a rebuilt tranny and $3500 for a new one. The van had 95K on it when this all happened. I've talked to some local transmission shops and they all concur that a transmission with that many miles on it should not be flushed. Now I'm in an arguement with the local lube express manager about how they screwed my transmission up. Anybody have this problem? What makes me really not believe these guys is the fact that they lied to me when I first took the van back to them with the problem.
