"drone/humming noise?
just wondering if anybody out there has a comment about this problem...(2001 escape 4x4 XLT V6)I have a "droneing/humm" noise that starts at about 100 km/hr...it almost sounds like a driveshaft out of balance type noise...don't really get any vibration.just a very deep,irritating noise...I am in the process of changing out a front wheel bearing and I'm hoping that might be it.,but it almost sounds like it's coming from right under my seat or towards the rear of the vehicle more than towards the front...I know it can't be the driveshaft because it's not in 4x4 mode...just wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar...Brent M

Thanks for the info...just a question...when I get a new bearing I can get it as a whole hub assembly or I can get it as just the bearing...what is the best thing to do in your opinion?thanks again...Brent M.

Honestly I have never personally worked on them myself. But I know a lot of folks who have them and have taken them to a shop to have them worked on. I think your best bet is to get a manual on it and read up a little. It can't be too hard to work with
