I STILL am looking at lighting for the Ranger, although I have had a bit of interest in HID systems recently. There aren't any I can find though that would work with the Ranger as a housing swap, other than a 'conversion' with gives you ballasts and some wiring, although not a whole harness, and the bulbs. I want dual filament type meaning it has brights and lows, as i still want 'high' beam capability. What are your thoughts on such modifications? Better off just getting bulbs as I had looked at previously?? Another quick question, does the 4x4 system have a center locking differential?? Thanks...
Does that make them better off-road? I will look into the Hella ones. I only remember seeing off-road type lamps, not conversions...then again, i briefly looked there....
Some vehicles like the jeep grand cheroke had a center locking diff on some of thier 4x4 systems, it was supost liminate the need for a locker or at least limited slip diffs. I don't really know how good it is, but I would rather have a good old fashion 3 speed t-case, and locker, or lsd, it's tried and true. For offroad use, I think we have the best system, we could use some lockouts like they use to have, but I guess we can't have everything.
Do the l/s's really work that well though? Some off-road magazines seem to not like them...then again, magazines only seem to like to promote the imports with the lockers/....
well, lockers are the best offroad for the etreme stuff, but thier on road manners can be a bit unnerveing at times. If your not rock crawling, a good gear driven lsd like a detroit tru-trac does a great job offroad, or get an electric locker, and have the best of both worlds, it's an lsd untill you push the botton, then it's a locker.
