2006 Screw - why?

Is there a cigarette lighter with no ash tray? The lighter is right near a 12V power source?
Just strange design.

Ah you see it as a cigarette lighter but we non smokers see it as a 12v power socket for accessories ? Perhaps, may be.

It has a cigarette lighter right next to a 12V power socket (2 sockets in total), but there is no ash tray.

Makes a nifty spot to keep the remote for the aftermarket headunit...

There is a 12V outlet near the lighter for the accessories. The manual says not to use the lighter to power anything. I still havent found an ashtray,

Pull out the cup holders in the dash. There is a little pocket in the center of them. Thats the ashtray.

I prefer the cig plug over the acessory port. It is more convienent and lower. I dont like them way up high like the power port. I read this weekend that you shouldnt use it to power anything as well!

I believe that 05's were the last year to have that cig lighter/cupholder combo. My 06 doesn't have the cupholders either. No spot for the ashtray either. In 06's we get a storage looking cubby instead.

Glad you found it. Do you smoke?

The one in my 02 F250 was the same design, only smaller. I didnt realize this was an ashtray for almost a year. I dont smoke, so it doesnt matter to me either way. Works good to put change.
