Headlight Swich problems in Germany

Hi - my headlight was flashing sometimes and so I thought , I put a new headlight swich in my Ranger V6 2.9 litre '88 in.I ordered one from lmc-trucks.com - the one they sendet me looks simular to the old one. I putted it in and now the insturument panel lights do not go off in any swich possition. the headlight works , but the parking light does not work too.
On the original swich is that number "Motocraft E778-11654-AA and on the lmc trucks swich is nothing , but the wiring assembly fittet perfect. Can anyone help me - because I'm stucked here in Germany and do not whant to pull the fuses all the time , to save my batterie. thanks for your help

Jogging my memory, it seems that I remember 2 Headlight assemblies for ford vehicles in '88. Crossover year? I do remember having the same problem in my 88 F-150. But it was so long ago...

Ok, did a little research and I was correct. There are two simmilar switches. One has 7 terminals and the other one has 9. If I remember correctly, The harness that plugs into the switch has 9 sockets, but not all are used. The switches are interchangable, but the routing of the power through is different. Look at your old switch and see how many terminals, and compare it with the new one.

Newer switch ('87-?'96)

Older switch (pre '87)

Note: The ceramic disk that the dimmer rheostat is attached to can be either smooth or gear tooth. I have seen both styles on both of those switches.

Edit: Also note that this switch was used in a lot of fords, not just in the trucks. You may be able to take your old switch to your local auto parts supplier, and match it up to another late 80's early 90's automobile.

Edit: Here is a site for motorcraft oem replacement parts.
MOTORCRAFT® PARTS FOR FORD, LINCOLN OR MERCURY VEHICLES
Great for looking up oem parts by vehicle or Part number.

The oem part number is either E77B 11654 AA or E7TZ 11654 B

great help

Hello - that was a quick and real good answer - wow and the pics !!!
Tomorrow I will go to my Ford Dealer and ask for that 9 nose switch - yes - the number you mailed me matches with the broken switch.
I wish you the best from Germany and thank you again for such a good and fast answer !!!

Well being here in Germany my self I can tell you that there is no chance of a German version working in your truck. A ford dealer here will be able to get you the part in a matter of a couple of days but it will be expensive.
