yo F,
lol...my idea was a joke; I didn't mean to infer that a Merc SUV is an option.

I miss my pal's dad who I mentioned earlier. He was a great Ford salesman who always followed up with his customers. We bought quite a few trucks and cars from him; the last being a 99 Contour. Whenever we needed service, he would always arrange for a loaner or let us use his company car and arrange the service personally for us. However, he retired for good last year.

When we stopped by the dealership to look into an ESP plan (we had a $300.00 coupon), the VP said, "Tom has lost touch with the auto industry...his time has past...he doesn't understand "modern" business practices".

Then she jacked up their ESP Plan price by $400.00 over the stated Ford's site cost for the same plan.

I stopped by the GM's office on the way out and he said his days are numbered there too.

Now it's a switch and bait dealership. My daughter spent 3.5 hours negotiating (one-sided) on a 2001 F 250 last Sept. We looked it over again while she wasted her time with a salesman and found bondo and overspray on a rear fender. Of course, the sales and service dept said it was factory overspray and the truck was not damaged. However they refused to add this statement to the contract. And the switch part came when they "discovered" that they forgot to mention a $1500.00 trade-in or down payment to the advertised (and "negotiated") price.

Al:
Sorry I've been absent the last couple days. The dealer contacted me on monday last. Right after you mentioned the Benz coincidently.
He told me that he had contacted Ford and they are now running a "Trace" on my truck to find out where it went, or where it is. They told me I will hear from them again within 72 hours with an answer. In the meantime I received an e-mail from a truck buyer in ford service who was told that the new moonroofs are holding up production on superduty's and he cant get VIN or build date on his order. He wanted to know if I had experienced anything like that. I reffered him to this wonderful site as an invaluable resource as well as a great group of people. I'll let you know what the next story is when I hear it.

Take care
Franklin

F3;

Was your truck a factory order? Don't want to burst your bubble, man, but mine took 20 weeks to arrive from Kentucky!

Well worth the wait. Be patient. Post a pic when you get it, and then drag your boat up here for some REAL fishin'.

Rick

ps: I sent you an email, did you get it?

Yes it is a factory order. Ordered Nov.1,02 built and shipped 12-11-02. Lost in transit. Ford Motors ran 72 hour trace last week to locate it and dealer has not yet heard from ford as to results of trace as of yet.
My digital Camera is poised an ready to fire when it arrives.
So this patience thing is running low. I've been NEGOTIATING with the salesman for more, but he keeps stalling, what would you do if you where in this situation.
I am to new here to know how to follow the "thread" when the Administrator moves my post cuz it took off on a tangent an got away from the subject. Thats why I'm still negotiating the forum!
Pun intended!
(dear administrator), I promise not to let this happen to often in the future.
I'm definately due to drag the big ugly tin boat somewherre, So what type of waters might we be "negotiating", er um navigating?

Still waiting for "ANYDAY NOW"

Hey Franklin
My dad ordered the 2003 King Ranch F350 dually crew cab with the 6.0 liter diesel and the moonroof they told us the engine was holding up the build that was two months ago. I hope this doesnt go on too long when you pay 50,000 dollars for a truck it better be damn nice. We have three 1997 diesels 7.3 for around the ranch. one has over 250,000 miles on it with relatively few problems but nothing that wasn't covered by the extended warranty. thanks

Your choice, we can cruise the Gulf/San Juan Islands and drink some of that stuff you Americans refer to as beer, or we can catch some real fish in the open waters of the North Pacific.

Get yer truck yet?

No truck yet;
However ford thinks I have it. They said it was delivered and serviced. I wonder how I like it?
Dealer says B.S. it never came here. I'll have to root the truth out the hard way I guess. I'm still going to get the truck it will just be more waiting.

On the matter of fishing:
The straits of Juan De Fuca.
I used to fish the rivers there coming into the state. If we launch in Blaine I wont have to cross the border but you have to bring the beer.
Should be a nice late summer run of Kings this year cuz I didnt do well this past season. Had to save some you know how it is.
Or we could get some heavy fly gear out on one of those world class rivers you got just North of Vancouver. Come to think of it I could stand to get a trip in now!

F3;

Hate to disappoint you, but even by water, you have a border to cross. You just don't need to clear Customs unless you come ashore.

Speaking of that, one of my favorite tricks is to take the boat to Roche Harbour (San Juan Island), and just cruise around the floats looking at all the BIG boats. The US Customs guys watch my approach thru' binoculars and then run around the docks trying to keep up with me. I just wave and carry on.

As for the beer, I'll be happy to comply altho' as a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, I can't condone drinking and boating so we'll have to drive to the bar!

As for your truck, who cares if Ford thinks you own it, as long as the bank doesn't

Tell the dealer to shove it! I'm pretty sure there's at least one more dealer in SoCal

Take care,

Rick

But:
I don't blame the dealer.
I believe him.
I can usually tell when someone is feeding me a line.
Either he's telling me the truth or he's the best liar I ever met.
Got me fooled so placed the new order yesterday.
I've told him everything I sent to Ford CRC in attempts to get him to squirm and he just said good let me know if you have any luck cuz we don't when we contact them. He's straight up no B.S.
You dont have a dealership for 45 years in the same spot run by the same family and not have a lot of good things on your side.
Nope this is long term here sales and service and future return sales and service.
Unless I find out he did sell my truck to someone else then I have to go postal on his a**.
