I have a F250 FX4 Super Duty. I tow a fifth wheeler. I need to lower the truck about 2" so I will have enough spacing so I can lower the pin box on the trailer to create additional needed spacing between the truck rails and the trailer. The trailer needs to remain level when towing, and I need another 2 " to keep the trailer from hitting the truck rails/tailgate. I have 18" wheels and there seems to be plenty of space between the tires and fenders. I do not want to change any of the characteristics of the truck (ie: suspension, front wheel alignment, etc.). I understand there is some type of a kit available, but can not find one listed. Anybody know of a fix?
You might consider removing your F250 rear suspension 2" blocks.
I've done a similar thing for my F350 (4" blocks) - took them out
and installed air bags to get the rear height back when not pulling
the 5th. Pics in my gallery.
It depends on what year you have, judging by the FX4 I am guessing it is newer model. The early 99 4X4 250's had 4 inch blocks in the rear but now I understand that the 250 4x2 has no blocks, the 250 4x4 has 2 inch lift blocks, the f350 4x2 has 2 inch and 350 4x4 has 4 inch blocks.
You would need to take out the blocks and install new U-bolts. You may or may not need to change the shocks, I am not sure.
It's an '05. Where are the blocks? Are they on all 4 wheels (it's a 4X4). I'm somewhat mechanically inclined, is it something I could do fairly easy? Do you have to do anything to the steering or alignment?
You are supposed to pull the trailer as level as possible. I have special TorqueFlex axles which can not be "flipped". I can raise the pin box some, but that would put the front of the trailer higher, putting more load on the rear axle.
I can not comment on the trailer but your blocks are on the rear wheels. They should be 2 inch blocks. You will not need to touch the front. Here is a pic of the blocks and the U-bolts. These are 4 inch.

I see the blocks now, noteing the post from Autobahn. That in effect lowers just the rear of the truck 2", correct? It looks like I'll need to prop up the rear half of the chasis of the truck in order to remove/ replace the blocks?
The blocks are in between the axle and the rear springs. I have not changed mine yet but you will need to find a way to lift the truck like you said then lower the truck and use the shorter U-bolts. I have been told you do not need to change shocks but I would check with someone who knows more than me.
You may lose a little with payload by taking out the blocks but not much. You may want to consider a a nice strong pair of shocks to try to make up any difference in ride.
I plan to do the same thing since the early 99's had 4 inch blocks, I want to replace them with two inch blocks. If fact if you want to sell your blocks let me know. I have a FL shipping address.
