The problem with JD Power is that it is not purely defects or problems. Subjective factors distort the results enough to make it useless to me. Gripes about the location and number of cupholders are of no use to me, but factor in the overall score. I'm really more concerned about the three year, not three month report anyway. That one gets a lot less press.
That sounds like a pretty cool job description Pmasley. Get the bugs out of new vehicles. Cust. satisfaction would be terriffic.
It was a great job. Company politics got in the way and I quit. They was quite a few jealous butts over the job I had. The owner tried to get me to come back for years. He told me that the warranty work (BS Items) tripled after I left. He also lost the Police Cruiser contract. I guess they did not trust anyone else but me as they knew the car was right (especially after i tweaked it a little.) when they got it.
Since I don't work there any more, I can say that I did more than tweak those crusiers. I curved the distributors and changed the timing, rejetted the carb, added heavier sway bars and shocks, added weight to the rear, killed the limiter, changed the tires and the sizes. They were "Bad A$$" crusiers when they left the dealership. And all of it was done under warranty. There was not many cruisers that at 30 mph, could break the tires loose and leave a set of dual stripes.
Yes, it was a fun job. Can you imagine driving a cruiser home and having it for several days all decked out?
