Much depends upon the GVWR. I could swear I have seen F150's with higher GVWR than some F-250's.
GVWR depends on many factors in the suspension; brakes, springs, axles, brakes, bearings, brakes , etc. The driveline; clutches, shafts, u-joints, cooling systems, differentials, etc. Frames and materials differ also.
It would be better to just buy a F-250.
The Breakpoint is the magic # 6900 GVW. F-250s under it are virtually a Heavy F-150, while F-350s over it are virtually F-350 std duty & non Dually-Non Stake Body models.
below 6900 is the smaller chassis of thinner material and over is the 8.5 of thicker metal. and all F-250 & 350 have the 8 lug pattern wheel.
Only trailer & camper specials and some super cabs seem to vary on these general guidelines. FBp
ok, clear as mud! lol Sounds like I just need to check GVW. I have a 250 supercab in rough shape. My 150 project truck might be a little light duty for some of the towing I might be doing. Hate to ditch the 150 after all the $$ I've put into it.
