Is there a differance between the 1/2 ton & 1 ton front fenders on a '42 - '47 pick up and if so how can I tell the differance?
As always thanks for the help
Paul
Yes there is a difference. The 1 ton uses the 21T fender, which is used on 1 ton and bigger trucks, the 1/2 ton with 16" wheels used the 21C fender. The wheel arch is bigger on the 1 ton and bigger. That is the only difference.
The difference can be somewhat difficult to spot, especially if you are looking at a fender off truck. One of the guys here or another group said he had one fender each on his 1/2 ton for quite a while before he noticed the larger opening. I did pretty much the same thing. Straightened and painted two fenders, mounted them and then realized one was from a big truck. It is still that way. Havent gotton around to finishing another 1/2 ton fender that is sitting on the shelf.
Been there, done that! I had one of each on my 46 for quite awhile before I realized it. They bolt on..bolt for bolt. I saw that my truck was sitting "higher" on one side, started checking out what was wrong and started to measure...sure enogh..... two different fenders.
The wheel cut-out is the only difference. Beware when buying the fenders. I had a "reputable" dealer try to sell me a 1/2 ton fender when it was for the one ton or bigger...once you realize the difference it is very easy to spot, but...

Once again thanks.
I had not noticed the differance but now I can see it. You have saved me from buying a fender as wall art or as stock for a project I may do.
