5sp auto rant
Ok I'll start by saying that I'm not a big fan of auto's... I've been driving my fathers 05 Explorer (v6 4x2), and I like it well enough, but I can't stand the way the trans downshifts. 
Is that they way they all are? You stomp it to the floor and it's like "Yawn... Huh... what?... oh downshift... lets see...." and what feels like 5 minutes later it kicks down.
In reality I know it only takes like 1 1/2 to 2 seconds, but that's a looong time if you NEED to get going right then and there.
My 86 AOD doesn't take anywhere near that long. Neither does the TH350 in my Chevelle and that likes to upshift at 3k rpms WOT... (it's getting relpaced with a 4spd manual.

I know some of it is the lack of torque from the six, but can't they do better?
I also drove an 05 mustang v6 auto and it did the same thing...
