For those who might remember, a while back I posted a thread regarding the purchase of a F250 and some thoughts I had regarding increasing the mileage and a few visual mods. Some of the responses were sent in a positive manner, others were clearly dogmatic.
here's the update on the results......
I purchased a Lincoln Mark LT (due to $10,000 rebate, incentive and purchase option that was available). While I realize this is not a F250, many of the issues to achieve increwased gas mileage are the same. I have 3000 miles on the truck and have completed my own personal break-in procedure which my family has used for close to 50 years. The initial adjustments have been completed and running at 75 mph without the AC or cruise control on, I am consistantly averaging 19.7 mpg. With the AC on I am averaging 18.5 mpg. With the completion of the remaining mods and the engine reaching 10,000 miles, I believe reaching 22 mpg is obtainable (I actually hit 21 mpg on one leg of a 70 mile trip running 73 mph with the cruise control on but the wind was at my back and there was absolutely no traffic- a very unusual condition in SoCal). These mileage factors were based upon daily fill-ups at the same service station using the same pump when possible.
