i have a 2003 f150 its a 4.6L V8 im wanting to put dual exhuast on but im getting different stories that i shouldnt put true dual because of lack of back pressure and causing check engine to come on wanting opinion i want best sound i can get and more horse power
I have true dual and the check engine light did come on, but theres no lack of back pressure. Sounds alot better and I havent noticed a increase of power. I have noticed a mile or two better to the gallon though.
You don't have to worry about backpressure issues on these trucks. They have 4 cats which maintain plenty of backpressure. You could cut the pipes right after the cats and it would be fine. True duals can be done, but a y-pipe is a much easier and cheaper solution.
If you really want true dual exhaust and don't want the y pipe, just run duals with a crossover pipe, this will even out the flow on both sides and even out the backpressure on both sides.
i have dual and intake...check engine has never come on because of dual...came on because of intake hose had disconnected itself...put clamps and ever since good... i lov the monster sound!
