I have a EFI 300 Six from a 86 or 87 1/2 ton that came with a C6. I was intending to swap it into my 72 F250, but ran into trouble with the transmission slip yoke.
I have the kit to convert it to a 5 speed manual, (bell housing, flywheel, and transmission) from an older 240 six. These parts have to be older than 1967.
I know they should bolt together, but I am worried about the balance - on several of the ford engines I understand they were externally balanced by a weight on the flywheel. When you change engines from an older on to a newer one you have to also change the weight.
Is that true on the 300, and how would I know which is which?
