I have spent a lot of time searching and have gotten a lot of great info about my little project. Both the spring hangers on the rear springs on my F350 are shot and I have already gotten them off and will pick up and install new ones tomorrow. My problem is getting the bolt/bushing out of the spring (I'm changing the shackles too). I read of people using a torch-does that mean that I just cut off the shackle and heat up the bushing and sleeve enough that beating it will get it out? I think this is the method used. Thanks for any help. Bill
Well, I have a big plus in my favor. I have the bed off my truck right now because I need to change the sending unit/pick-up in my front tank. I'm sure doing this spring bracket job is a whole lot easier this way.
Since the bed is off I am also going to change the sending unit in the rear tank and the fuel lines from both tanks to the tank switch valve. I may not hit my head this way but I'm known for smahing a finger on occasion.
Well, not as smooth as I hoped. I am having trouble getting the old bushings etc out. I got the bolt out on the drivers side but thats as far as I got. I beat the snot out of that thing, plenty of WD, more sledge and even put some heat on it. Got my air chisel out and of course made a mess out of it but could not even budge the outer sleeve. I got the bolt sleeve to move a little bit, but thats it. Anyone got any suggestions?
