what are the torque spec's for the caliper, caliper mounting bolts, and wheel lug nuts? i'm doing the front brakes on a navigator, should be the same as an F150 4x4.
thanks.
you guys dont know? crap, if you had a 325is, a GS300, or a Grand cherokee i could give you torque spec's down to the freakin bleeder nipple. someones gotta have the torque spec's in one of their repair manuals handy.
Give people some time to read it... Not all of us wanna dust off our repair manuals.
Caliper itself I believe is 26 ft/lb, and all ford 5-lugs are 150 ft/lb, but not sure about the mounting bolts.
you guys are hopeless, i found the info 2 days ago an hour after i posted here just by searching on google. some expedition forum had it (not this forum, i searched) i put the caliper bolts to 25lb ft, the mounting bracket bolts to 75lb ft, and the lug nuts to 100lb ft (as the lug nut itself specified) while 12mm torque was listed at 115-120 i believe. 14mm is 140-150.
This forum really doesn't have the self-fixers and go-getters that other enthusiast forums do. I was a '93 F-150, straight-six owner, and you could ask most anything of the straight-six forum, or even the older F-150 forums, and there'd be people who thought outside the box, changed tranny's with one hand, and found a solution to the cold fusion problem. Well, not to that extent, but certainly much more experienced, outgoing and mechanically inclined posters than can be found in this current F-150 forum.
We've got people here posting for mods that are for looks and sound, not for guts and glory. Ask about an aftermarket grill, too big of wheels, restrictive exhausts that sound good, or headlights and many in this forum will answer your question. Sometimes I feel like this is nothing but a rice-burner mod forum.
That's the thing I miss about the real enthusiast forums. I often wonder what those other guys are driving now that their trucks are so old. Sure, many hang on to them, but many more eventually move on. Maybe they bought Chevys? We were all pretty critical of these Ford 'Heritage' F-150 frames and such. I just got a deal on one, so I bought it.

you are right about this forum. NOBODY knew the damn torque spec's on something as easy as this. I can STILL tell you the spec's for a XJ/ZJ/TJ Jeep and i havent had one in over a yar. 13lb ft on the calipers, 80 on the hub nuts, 90-100 on the lugs...
there was an article on this site in the tech articles that was great but again, it didnt list the spec's there, i was really surprised. it talked about how to install pointless stainless brake lines though.
i went with brand new all Made in USA parts for the navigator. PG Plus raybestos rotors (Best i could find locally) and the highly recommended Quiet Stop Ceramic's by Raybestos.
