i have a 1985 ford f250 desiel, i need to know how to take off the exterior trim running along the cab , bed , and front end. i know to use a putty knife to get the initial trim off but is there any clips i should know about . and it seems to be kinda glued on so should i use any sort of solvent to get off the sticky stuff . and if i use a solvent which one wont take off the paint?
It is the trim that is just below the front side marker light and runs completely to the rear of the truck? Black w/ aluminum insert?. (4) pieces per side? Does one of the pieces that is on the door have a cut-out so it fits around the keyhole?
If this is what you have, then there are no mounting clips for this trim. (This is what I have on my 1985). It is al strictly the adhesion type moulding. Just go to my gallery and look at my 1985 Ford F-350. I have this trim NOS and am debating on putting it back on once I have the truck repainted.
Go to an automotive paint store and get an adhesive remover from them. I think 3m makes a good one and you can get it in an aerosol or regular can. And it won't hurt your paint.
