Looking for advice

I am looking to buy a F-250 in the near future, because, whereas the F-150 looks nice, I personally like the looks of the 250 better and my '94 F-150(which I still plan on keeping, had it since I was 16) is a little outdated. With that in mind I'm planning on buying my first diesel, hopefully with the 7.3 under the hood. I figured it would get better mileage and obviously have the extra horses versus the V-8. My question is with the recent/up-coming change in diesel fuel, would you guys recommend still going with the diesel?? Keeping in mind this would basically be an everday driver with some light pulling on the side(so the power is not a necessity). I've read the posts about the new ultra-low sulfur fuel and decided (to be on the safe side and not have to worry about adding additives evertime I filled up) I could switch to strictly biodiesel. I'm from a rural farming community, using the crop as a fuel source is a GREAT idea in my opinion whether it be as ethanol or biodiesel. Upon visiting one of the sites and checking for retailers of biodiesel in my area, I discovered there is only one within a resonable distance. I don't want to have only one station to be able to fill up at when the tank is empty. So that posed a problem and I'm now a little skeptical about buying the diesel. Let me know what you guys think, any and all suggestions and opinions are welcome.

Thanks alot

The ULSD is backwards compatible with older diesel engines. The concern is that the sulfur is a lubricant and that ULSD might be hard on things like injectors. The fuel marketers already will be mixing substitute lubricants into the fuel. Think about how many millions of pre-2007 diesels are on the road, in ships, in construction equipment and in power generators. If the oil companies marketed fuel that was harmful to those engines, there would be a massive outcry.

I wouldn't worry about it. Find yourself a good deal on a diesel truck and enjoy it. I certainly have no plans to give up mine!

It should be fine. If you're worried, run some of the more popular diesel additives. Or make a small biodiesel setup and run some percentage biodiesel.

If anything ULSD might make the older diesels only go 350K instead of 375K. That's just my opinion.
