YZ... 05's will get the light, with at least one, and posibly up to three EGR related codes, like JMullens, and many others have said, you can use an SCT or a host of other programmers that plug into the PCM port and remove the EGR circuit from the factory PCM strategy.
SoCal, in another thread I read that only California 05 models get the light... can anyone confirm? Not a big deal really as I plan to go with a tuner as soon as I figure out which is best.
The SCT can disable the egr functions and codes that cause an EGR related CEL. The other tuners can only read and clear codes. If it throws a code stock, it will throw a code tuned. CA trucks will definately get the light. Just unplug it and see. The light should come on after 2nd start if its going to come on at all. If you want you can plug it back in and the light will go away.
you can stack it with a fuel module, which is an inline device. The PCM can only hold one operating program. You can also run the SCT all by itself and get the edge, banks, bully dog stuff later on if you decide you need more...
YZ... I have installed a bunch of different tuners/fuel boxes on different trucks, including my own. I used to run the SCT Excal stacked with the Edge Juice/Attitude, for the adjustability on the fly, but have since kicked the Juice to the curb. On the dyno my truck makes just as much HP with SCT custom tunes as it did with canned tunes and the Juice, plus it is waaaaay more fun to drive, off idle lag is virtually non existant, runs way hard off idle to W.O.T. If I was doing a personal truck over again, I would just start with an SCT to begin with.

My non-California '05 does NOT throw a CEL when the EGR connector falls off.
Thanks again for the info guys. SoCal what do you do for indications and defuel protection without the EDGE? The new A2 system looks pretty nice and I like the wireless backup camera.
