Maybe someone else has had this problem. After driving on the highway for a while Ill start to get a metallic rattling noise from what sounds like the front. The only way I can describe it is like heavy pinging in a gas engine. The noise is consistent with the speed of the vehicle and not the engine speed. If you drop below 55 the sound level drops to the point you cant hear it but is most noticeble at 70. If I take off from a stop with my foot in it, I will make the noise right when it shifts into second gear, stops when it shifts into third and wont make the noise again untill i get up to cruising speed. To give you an idea on how loud it is, the motor will drown out the noise on the highway. Also the noise will stop when I shift into neutral. Tranny bad?

Hmmm...wonder if there is a heat shield or inspection plate (etc. etc.) loose somewhere.
I know both can be the culprit in the V10 Excursions but that doesn't really matter in your case since you have a different engine & tranny...
