So i got my brake problem figured out, i then decided it time for a coolant flush, and an oil change. I get all that done go to start it up and guess what.
I dont start. It sounds like the starter is gringing on the flywheel instead of turning it. I pulled the starter out and inspected the teeth and both look ok, but there is a little wear on the flywheel for sure.
Im gonna try a different starter if that dont work i maybe looking at a new flywheel, which will totally suck, i am in no position to be paying for all that.
Uhg!!!!!
So basically if the new starter doesnt work the truck is going into storage for a long long time, till i can save up some money to get her fixed.
Check the "automatic" of the start (the cilindric piece just ahead of the jack mount, will have 3 cables connected to it), and of course, all the wires going to the start system. Also... i know it´s dumb... but... did you check if you battery isn´t dead? sometimes when they are about to give up, they do exactly what you described above.
The battery is definetly good, it seems like the bendix gear isn't engageing the flywheel properly. Im gonna be taking into my buddies shop to have it looked at. He said it could be a flywheel problem and said that it ould be replaced for $300 if need be.
Do yuo have a manual transmission? If you do and it turns out to be a flywheel problem, you can replace just the ring gear instead of buying a new flywheel.
