My 300 hates to idle now,Crank it up,"Sputter sputter,cough.....Die." Everytime unless I play with the throttle alot. If I'm on the throttle very lightly(driving),engine will cut in and out. I ran sea foam through it already,I don't know if its the IAC going dead or TPS or what. I DO know im tired of this crap.
Everyime I pull codes I get 11 so that does me no good,I can pull them again but will probably get the same thing again.
What do ya'll think it is before I start throwing money into this rig?
Well, my truck had a horrid idle and would almost certainly die after the first time I started it, then it would surge from 500-1000 RPM's for about 2 minutes or so. Once I started driving it, it seemed okay, except for another issue I am having Was doing that on every startup, not just when cold. Makes it a PITA being a manual.. Anywho, I have been doing some browsing the past couple of days and decided to go pickup, no pun intended , a new Throttle Body gasket ($1.99) and take off the TB. Pulled off the IAC, parts store didn't seem to have any gaskets for this , and sprayed down the IAC real good and the TB, put it all back together and now she idles like a champ. Was real cheap to do and took all of like 20 minutes. Make sure you check all your vacuum hoses as well, by now a bunch are probably cracked to you know what.
The only vac lines that look bad come off the intake to some little box by the radiator. The ones by the A/C condensor look great. I'll try the gasket and clean it all down.
I would check the fuel pressure first. You can usually borrow a gauge from a parts store. Worst case, I think they're about $30 to buy. I would also clean out your throttle body and the IAC valve.
I changed the TB gasket,(Old one came off in pieces it was so hard) and looked inside my intake manifold,It has chunky stuff so thick,I can scrape it off with my fingernail. Inside it looks all gunky looking and oily.
Would running a can of sea foam through the brake vaccum line clear it out? I already ran a can through the gas tank.
But changing the gasket did improve my Idle some. It still dies sometimes.
I screwed up the manifold gasket one time in mine, there was a gap so big with no gasket, I wasn't surprised it didn't want to idle. Rough idles can be a sure sign of an air leak somewhere in the fuel system or a vacuum line leak.
