few problems i could use some help

hey guys, i have a 88 f250 with a I6 in it. i had some troubles with it and wasn't getting any spark. i checked and had power to the coil and then to the plug on the ignition module, but no spark. so today i bought the little socket for the module and took it in to have bench tested. it was bad, they gave me a new one. the one they gave me was grey. and the old one was grey. i put it on and had spark, but would not fire. i had also put new cap and rotor and plugs in so thought i had messed up my firing order. so i messed with that till one time i tried and it fired right up. ran for a few minutes and as soon as i stepped on the gas it miss fired and died. i then tried a diferent firing order and it started up. i drove it to work and at one point it was missing again and i pulled over and it went away and i was off to work.
on my way home today it started right up, got a couple blocks and it was missing again and died. i went one over ont he firing order and it started right up and i got about 5 more blocks and died again. this time my battery is also dead from trying to start it. any ideas why it would start up and run for a bit and then start messin up again? could it be a bad ignition module? coil?
my dist cap doesn't have anything to say where number 1 wire goes?

this is driving me crazy, been messin with it for a week now and finally got it runningand then this.
any help would be super great.
thanks

Have you cheched to see if the coil still has voltage after it died. Could possible be a bad contact on the ignition switch.
