i have 2 werid noises i get coming from my t case in two different situations. one is when im crusing around and i crack down into it and it kicks down and throws me into the seat, sometimes i will get this ratteling noise and the t case shifter will vibrate left and right with the ratteling. some times it does it, stops, and then does it again, some times it just doesnt do it, and sometimes it does it and after keeping it to the floor for a little it just stops. another is when under a heavy load like trying to back up a rock and in 4 wheel high or low and the front wheels are slipping and then grabbing i get this noise like my front drive shaft is whackin my floor board but i know it aint that, im wondering if my chain is loose and is jumping teeth. it is a 203 t-case with a part time conversion kit. it doesnt do either of the things when i neutral dop it in 4 wheel at high rpms and i have done some serious neutral drops in mud pits, like 5 grand neutral drops between drive and reverse and it wont get the ratteling sound when i stomp it off the line and get it reving high.

Neutral drops are not the best thing to do with 1/2 ton gear, but I agree with chrono4, check your transfer case, tranny, and motor mounts. Those neutral drops most likely had a part in whatever gave loose.
Don't forget to not only check the rubber in the mounts, but also where the mount itself bolts to the crossmember/frame/t-case to make sure all the bolts are tight and/or still there.
it was doing it long before i neutral dropped it, i was just making a point that it doesnt do it when i neutral drop it even though it is a high stress situation.

I agree with FordPickup460, Check your u-jonits and all the mounting hardware. I had a friend that was doing that and he also had the 203. He went to the 205 and the problem went away. But he still had to replace u-joints and a front drive shaft yoke. But doing the N-drops at high revs will wear and break parts. It's just a matter of time!
