Issues with 97 explorer

Ok so I a 2wd 97 explorer and im not sure what is wrong with it sometimes the converter rattels and it feels like it has no power it also feels like it is misding out when driveing down the road and sometimes when sitting at a light it trys to die. I did a complete tuneup cleand the maf sensor and a bunch of other stuff and still no change can anyone help me and give me some advise on what to do next. Im at the point that im ready to dump it at the junkyard.

First you need to stop guessing, and give us some proper diagnostic information...switching parts ***** nilly cost $$$ and wont fix the issues.... Philip

Diagnosis based on the info given.

The converter is the catalytic converter?
If the monolith inside is loose or the substrate is damage it might be blocking your exhaust causing those problems.
