can a 4x4 truck have a 4.1 ratio rear and a 4.11 ratio rear???
I see both ratio's listed in the manual...Could i use
one of each or do they both need to be 4.1 or 4.11
together???
Just found a 4.1 ratio dana 60 rear for $50
What i'm trying to find out is,
ford has both listed for gear ratios for the trucks, a 4.1 ratio
and a 4.11 ratio, I have a 4.10 ratio or 4.11 in the front of my truck
and found this full floater with 4.1 ratio code 24 for 1970
pickup....I just want to know if i can use them together
for my truck??Or should i find a true 4.11 rear to match the
front...
The reason I ask all this is my 69 crewcab
i am switching the front axle to a 1976 dana 44 with dics, and
i see in 76 they only list 4.11 as a ratio in the ford red book,
now the dana 60 for the back i found is from a 1970 f-250 and the
code lists it as a 4.1 ratio i'll assume thats 4.10???is this
in range to work or will i need to find a 4.11 rear to match
the front???
you'll be fine with a 4.11 front and a 4.10 rear. i'm not a 4x4 expert, but have read that it's got something to do with keeping the system under a little bit of load while in four wheel drive.
You will not have any problems with running a 4.10 with a 4.11 or even a 4.09( though that is bout the limit.) The tires you have bought for your truck are farther off ratio than that. No matter what kind of tires you buy it will be that way. Hope this helps.
True. That little bit of a difference shouldn't matter. Many-a-truck has come with slightly different ratios between front and back axles straight from the factory.
