Hey guys, are 1968 ford f-100's interchangeable with 1970 ford f-100's? There is an older gentleman that knows my wife. He is building a 66. He has a 70 he is going to take to the salvage yard, but wants me to come out and see if there is anything i need or want on it. Just need to make sure they can work together.
The 67-72 models are very similar. The 67-69 models look a little different from the 70-72 models because of some cosmetic changes (the split grille first appeared in 1970, for instance) for the 1970 model year, but the operational parts have few differences.
3 things I would get, if they are in good shape, would be the inner fenders, radiator support, and the the hood spring mount supports. These are hard to find items, so grab 'em if they're good!!
Jeff, get the truck and keep it till yours is done.I had a '69 Ranger on hand when i built my 70.Bolts,clips,ect are priceless if you need something at that moment.!!!You wont regret.Evry truck you build should have a complete counterpart for parts.Cant beat it!
The parts I need are like the cab (another question about that in a moment), hood, inner fender and the bed floor. At least that is what I know I need right now. As far as the cab is concerned, the dash on my 68 is in darn near perfect condition. The top of the cab and the flooring is REALLY BAD. Is it better to just replace those two things or can I change the dash out in mine and fit it onto the new cab?
