Here for the past few days I have been having trouble with my 88 F-250 acting like it was loosing its prime... In the morning it takes several attempts to get the truck to fire... This afternoon it just wouldn't fire at all... I changed the filter and reprimed the motor and got it to run... When it is running, it runs great.. Not a problem there at all... I checked every line, hose and fitting but I'm still having starting trouble even after changing the filter... What else on this thing could cause this....
Do you still have the filter return line hooked up?
The check valve could be going bad.
Another case where an electric fuel pump would be good.
For what it is worth, Cat is starting to use them on their small machines instead of the mechanical ones. Easier than pumping a primer after you change filters.
No fuel system contamination from filling the filter from another source of fuel.

I think a big block GM plate will bolt right on to close the block up.
Then just install the electric pump, most put it right in front of the tank selector valve.
Protected by the frame and down low so it primes easy from the tanks.
