Does anybody have the installation instructions for a Heidts MII on a 48-52 F1? I already have the xmember and hats welded in, pieced the rest of the parts together from another supplier and I am not sure it is fitting together right. When I put a level on the rotor it shows that the top arm is sticking out too far by about 1/4" and I have it adjusted all the way in. Also when you look down from the top the ball joints don't line up. Just looking for some tech assistance here, it seems to me that the ball joints should be lined up and center with the center of the member and the rotors shold be level up and down. I got the parts from an ebay supplier and am beginning to question if it was a good idea or not? So has anybody bought the complete heidts front and have instructions for installing a-arms and spindles and everything. I am using Tubular arms for bags and 2" drop spindles, and the arms are 5/8" narrow (or supposed to be!) Also the top arm hits the spring hat when you try to swing it down, don't have the bags yet but it seems that when the bags are extended it is going to slam the arm into the hat! Man what have I gotten myself into?
Yea I think all that info was in the front of the catalog they sent with the crossmember, thanks, I will read over it again and see if I missed anything. I called them today and asked what the distance should be from shock mount on spring hat to shock mount and they said 38.5" center to center, I am at 39" so I am pretty close there. That is about all they could do to help as I did not purchase the rest of the stuff from them, can't blame em! So I will just have to keep reading and tryin to figure it out!
Looks straight, I know that doesn't mean much! The crossmember and everything fit right in and there are no signs of previous damage, I will have to measure it out and see for sure though. I am still leaning more towards the arms they sent me being the wrong dimensions though, they just don't seem right!
I think I'd take some measurements on the upper and lower control arms and call THAT vendor... ask him to check the dimensions against his and see... shipping sometimes gets us in trouble...
If you put the Heidts unit in square using the correct measurements for placement...it's hard todo wrong
