1996 f150 shift problem
i have a 96 f150 5.0l v8. started driving home today and it wouldn't shift gears until around 2500 rpm's, usually shifts under 2000. it doesn't jerk into gear or anything, it just shifts real slow. I got on the highway and it wouldn't shift down. (the o/d light has been blinking at me for a long time), i noticed it was solid on the off position, i pushed the button and it started shifting fine until the next time i stopped. checked the fluid, full not dirty or burnt

The blinking O/D light tells you there's something wrong. As soon as you saw that light, you should have had it checked out immediately. It's the truck's way of telling you, "Hey! Something's wrong! Fix me before it costs you thousands!"
Hopefully it's not too late - but I would take it to a good tranny shop.
