OK, I have a 1990 bronco with a 5.8. My engine started acting weird recently and the mechanic told me that my ecm was fried and that Ford doesnt make them anymore. They also told me that they cant find one anywhere. Does anyone know what to do? It seems like there should be some aftermarket computers available for this motor. Is my mechanic retarded? please help.
Should be easy to come by, most salvage yards sell them from $10 to $30.
What is doing, they do not go out very often? If you have a Super Chip on it just unplug it and see if that helps.
If it still runs about the only thing that could be bad is the 5V-voltage regulator for reference voltage and you can check that at the TPS.
If that is good you more than likely have problems elsewhere.
