What brand of tires would you recommend? I am replacing the Goodyear Wrangers (P255/70R/16), but not sure which brand to use. I want to stay with the current size.
Does anyone have any experience with General Ameritrac? I am looking at those, and want to get some opinions on them before I buy them.
What other tires--preferrably ones that won't break the bank--would you recommend?
I broke the bank as well with Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVOs. I don't regret it they are a great tire. However, I know folks that are pleased with the Firestone Destination A/Ts (as mentioned above as well). I also know some folks at work that are very happy with Yokohama Geolander A/T tires and they tended to have a pretty good price point.
Just put a set of the Destination LE's on the 95 EB I bought from my daughter. 255/70/16.
I put a set on my wifes jeep a couple of months ago and realy like the way they ride. No problems but both vehicles are mainly on road.
Ditto on the C load rating, when I got my '98 it had some really cheap 4 ply tires on it and you could feel them squirming on every corner. I put on a pair of Les Schwab tires (probably won't see those on the east coast) but I believe that they are made by Avon, mine are 235-75/15
If you drive offroad or went the look of an AT tire, the NEW General Grabber AT2 is a great tire... they wear well, are not too expensive $90 each from Tirerack, have a load rating of 111 in that size and wear like iron.
I have bought a bunch of sets of tires from them and had great service every time.
On a side note, the General Ameritracs aren't great tires... I found on my F150 they were prone to flats, didn't have great grip in the water and they aren't a "pretty" tire.

I like the REVO but couldn't get it in a stock 245/65/17.
I would think they're louder and a bit harsher on bumps over the Alenza's but I do like 'em.
The Alenza's are fantastic in every respect except in deep snow.
