Bill, Yep they are bad! Fortunatly for me I have a buddy that went to Wyo Tech and has a shop where he can recreate just about any shape. He will be the guy making and welding in the patches. I will post pics as the work progresses!
I know this is a little out of scope for what you guys are talking about, but I'm redoing a 68 F100 with my son and we're shaving the driprails off and filling them with lead. Got a nice body solder kit from Eastwood, if you get the desire to eventually fix the truck up you'll wind up doing something like this. I have a 79 F350 that's in line behind the 68 that will get the same thing.
